[Title of Show]

My Australian review of [Title of Show], a recent Broadway musical now making its Australian debut at Theatre Works, is online. No, you read that right: while one usually associates Broadway musicals with $10 million sets at the Princess Theatre, this is a show that makes a virtue of minimal staging. Like I say, it's a smart idea delivered with sheer exuberant charm.

A couple of pending reviews will occur presently. For the moment, I seem to have run out of words. I have written such a lot of them lately.

Hi Alison,

in your review you said:

"No meta-theatrical stone is left unturned. It opens with a song called Untitled Opening Number, which tells us that this is the opening song, and finishes with the line, "This is the last line in the show"."

In light of a conversation I had with you recently you might be interested to see a transcript to the theme song of "It's Garry Shandling's Show" written in 1986:

This is the theme to Garry's Show,
The theme to Garry's show.
Garry called me up and asked if I would write his theme song.
I'm almost halfway finished,
How do you like it so far,
How do you like the theme to Garry's Show.

This is the theme to Garry's Show,
The opening theme to Garry's show.
This is the music that you hear as you watch the credits.
We're almost to the part of where I start to whistle.
Then we'll watch "It's Garry Shandling's Show".

(the theme is whistled for a few bars then:)

This was the theme to Garry Shandling's show.

Thanks Troubador (here's a live link. Absolutely in the same game. I think you said you thought this show prefigured Seinfeld too? I might do some YouTubing...
